The 1st edition of the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge shall run for 3 days, which includes 2 days for the preparatory boot camp and 1 day for the grand finale.
Through the Enterprise Challenge, Imo youths who have various business ideas shall be allowed to “pitch” them before the public and a Panel of Judges.
Overall best 10 bankable business ideas shall win grants and cash awards; and shall be assisted in applying for the CBN funded AGSMEIS, Bank of Industry and other funds, as applicable to their ventures.
This strategy shall spark up a new orientation among Imo youths because, those that did not win grants in this edition will begin early to prepare themselves for the next challenge, which shall be organized annually.
By doing this annually, we shall end up eliminating the entitlement and job seeking mentality of our youths.
The Enterprise Challenge shall feature a keynote presentation by our President, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, entitled: “Starting Small: The Key to Success in any Venture”.
There shall also be an important Panel Session, involving successful young entrepreneurs in the State, who shall discuss on this hot topic: “Starting Small: The Challenges and our Success Stories”.
The main targets for this challenge are young entrepreneurs and innovators from Imo State between the ages of 18 to 45 years.
We shall give room for anyone interested to submit application and concept note about his idea as well as appear for the boot camp (tutorial) on how to pitch business ideas, which shall hold for 2 days before the main event.
About 200 participants shall be admitted into the 2 days boot camp, which shall in turn produce only 10 finalists that will pitch their ideas before the President, Members of the Board of Trustees, the panel of judges and the general public.
The project is designed to bring together young entrepreneurs, industry leaders, tech enthusiasts and policymakers within and outside the state to learn, share ideas, get inspired, meet investors and network with other startups founders.
Interested Imo youths, who have bankable business ideas shall pitch them before a panel of judges and win grants as follows:
• 1st Prize – N500,000
• 2nd Prize – N300,000
• 3rd Prize – N200,000
• Consolation Prizes – N140,000 ( i.e. N20,000 for 7 persons)
POST EVENT EVALUATION
At the end of the event and grant awards, our technical team shall follow up on the awardees to ensure that they utilize the grants for the purposes they were meant.
Our team shall continue to provide them with technical support until they are well established.
