In our bid to bring you up to speed with the preparation for the Biggest rap battle in the South Eastern Part of Nigeria, today, the organizer of the event, Uc Flamez Awanti, one of the best rappers from the East, he is no longer a rising rap artist but he is set to dominate the music industry in months to come.
Let’s go straight to the interview we had with the star,
Q1. The owerri rap league, what is the motivation behind it?
ANS: “The Owerri Rap League was born out of the hunger to have a platform for Rap culture in Imo state and environs. Looking at my background i know how powerful rap battles are because i was discovered through a rap battle organised by Hot Fm pool partu where i won and since then it has ascent for my career in the state..So i have alwasy had it in mind to set up something like this to engage fellow rappers who must have given up hope or are asking which way forward for rap in the state and country since afro music has been the genre on the rise”.
Q2. Organizing the battle, how has it been? the challenges you have faced, what edition is it now?
ANS: “Well I will not say it has been totally tough because I am a rapper and I have participated in several rap battles so i know the technicalities involved to give a great rap battle so most of the work happened in my brain and i wont fail to mention my visuals and audio team who believe in my dream and supported me so far wholeheartedly. Luckily I command a little influence in the new school rap culture in the state so its not impossible to invite rappers since I also battled last year to the platform because most of them have also yearned for such platform which was no where to be found prior to #ORL. The only challenge i faced last year was in financing because 100% of it came from my savings last year. So that’s the only challenge so far”.
Q3. Now talking about this year’s edition, what do you have for us? Tell us
ANS: This years edition is going to be mind blowing. We have 8 rappers, 6 boys 2 girls. This ratio is maintained because of the fewer number of female rappers as to male rappers. We just got an endorsement from Oga Jay of RUNWAY ENTERTAINMENT as the OFFICIAL SPONSOR for OWERRI RAP LEAGUE 2019, Plus we have been recognized by the Government too, So its going to be star studded.
Q4. Can you tell us where its gonna be holding and date? Are you revealing it or only for those invited?
ANS: “I can promise you that the venue is going to be mindblowing, 10 times better than last years, But its undisclosed to the public because its strictly on invitation. This is in order to regulate the noise and crowd mentality manipulation by fans of contestants if it was a public gathering..this is yo enable us get a clean audio and visuals for your viewing pleasure”
