FORMER NIGERIAN FOREIGN MINISTER COMMENDS WINNER OF UN WIPO COMPETITION
The former Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Deputy Director General, World Intellectual Property Organisation, Mr. Goeffrey Onyeama has commended 16 year old Destiny Remy Chukwunyere for emerging the overall winner of the 2024 WIPO National Design Competition.
Mr Onyeama, who was the keynote speaker at the World IP Day event congratulated Master Destiny for aptly capturing the theme: “IP and Sustainable Development: Designing the Nigeria of my Dreams” using art.
He used the opportunity to commend his parents and encouraged them to do more to ensure that he realised his dreams in life.
Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Hon. Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security was the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
Other VIPs in attendance included the UNICEF Country Director for Nigeria; Director of WIPO Nigeria Office; Director General of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP); the Deputy Director of National Gallery of Arts; and Directors of Trade Marks; Copyrights; and Patent Registry Offices.
Speaking to newsmen, Destiny’s father, Mr Remy Chukwunyere said he is grateful to the UN and its agency, the World Intellectual Property Organisation for giving his son the opportunity to showcase his talent.
