A highly sought after public speaker and fast rising Leadership coach with a passion to help youths become effective Leaders, Mr. Samuel Isiwu shares with us the story of his little beginnings.
In a chat with Bossgist, He said “I learnt how to market myself and blow my own Trumpet early. I understand that in this times, everyone is busy with their own thing, nobody really cares about what you do, so the only way people would know what you do is when you constantly talk about yourself, it’s called strategic marketing“.
The leadership coach went down memory lane to say that his journey as a leadership was a rough one; stating that it’s all about the power of small beginning.
In his own words; “I’ve always been in front of the crowd as a little boy, doing presentations in primary and secondary school, representing my school in debating competitions, although not as effective as I am now“.
“But I started public speaking as a business officially in September 2017 during the 2 months ASUU strike at that time, after my vision became more clearer to me“, He added. He revealed how he had to start without cash on him, as he walks from school to school in Delta State submitting proposals to enable him get to talk to students.
“It has not really been easy with me doing this good work. I started as a young boy that nobody knew, but what kept on driving me was my passion and dreams; my dreams woke me up daily“, he said.
It is known that one of the biggest challenges of Entrepreneurs is mainly lack of Funds as Samuel is left out from facing such, he said “I remember there were alot of times I would volunteer to anchor an event and I would not have a single naira not in my pocket to transport myself back home. So I’ll wait for everyone to leave the venue so they won’t see me, and then I’ll walk back home“.
Samuel Isiwu, a 400l student of the Prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri, revealed that another critical challenge that he has faced was that of his encounter on October 4th 2019, when He contested for the office of the SUG PRESIDENT in FUTO. He borrowed over 100k to contest for that election with the hope of paying back when he wins of which he didn’t. According to him, he was so disappointed as he ran into debts but later overcame.
He shares with us his achievements within the past few years;
I became one of the most influential students on campus after October 4th 2019 (SUG elections). And I got featured in the schools newspaper (Xperience newspaper) that was recently launched at the just concluded matriculation ceremony as the face of the Xperience newspaper. I organized the biggest paid public speaking masterclass in FUTO with over hundreds of students in attendance that paid to learn from me.
