Gully erosion swallows Imo Community.

The people of Amakohia- Ubi community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state on Monday cried out because of a gully erosion that has created a cave in their community even as they said that the gully has snatched a little child from the mother and drowned him to death.
Apart from the incident where a little child lost his life, it was reported that many aged people while managing to pass through the road while going to their farms had fallen into the gully and sustained various degrees of injuries.
Hundreds of houses within the most affected areas were said to be standing on a shaky foundation as the gully had eaten deep below the foundation of the houses and could be swallowed any moment with increase in violent flow of water in the gully which now looks like a crater.
According to one of the prominent indigenes in the community, Barrister Charles Amobi Jaja, it was reported that the attention of the past governments had been drawn towards it but nothing was done.
He therefore appealed to the present government to do something about the gully before more lives and properties would be lost.
