Falconets Wins Haiti to Keep Hopes Alive

Nigeria U-20 women’s national football team, the Falconets, reignited their hopes of advancing from the World Cup group stage with a 1-0 win over Haiti.
The Nigerian ladies kicked off their campaign with a rather disappointing loss to Germany in their first match last Monday, but bounced back against the Asians on Thursday.
A goal by Rasheedat Ajibade via a penalty on 36 minutes was enough to give Nigeria all three points from the encounter.
An impressive Falconets goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was voted as player of the match.

With the win, Nigeria moved up to second in the table after two games, three points behind leaders Germany.
Three-time champions Germany defeated China 2-0 in the other group game, as China are third and level on points with Nigeria while Haiti occupy the bottom.
Germany already qualified for the quarterfinals. Nigeria will battle China on Monday for the other Group D ticket to the last 8.
Meanwhile, Africa’s other representatives, Ghana, were defeated 4-0 by debutants Netherlands on Wednesday, which ended their hopes of reaching the next round, having already lost in their opening match last weekend.
