You should wash fruits like oranges before eating. The reason will leave you stunned.

I have seen a whole lot of people eat fruits like oranges without washing them first. When asked, they’d say,” what’s the need to since you’re not going to eat the their peels?”.

Now, here’s why you need to wash wash them first before eating. First off, washing helps to remove bacteria including E.coli(which is one of the deadliest form of bacterium found on Earth), from the surface of fruits and vegetables. The amazing thing is most of the bacteria will be in the soil attached to the produce and when they are been harvested, it might be possible to have some enter into the skin under the orange peel

Apart from that, according to the research conducted by me, I discovered that once in awhile while lemons, oranges and limes are been stocked, there will be a rotten fruit along with the others. Then in other to save time and stress, the rotten fruit will be removed and then the others will be wiped off and put on the shelf to be sold.

What happens in this case? The bacteria from the one fruit definitely has the potential to get onto the other fruits, and if eaten without being thoroughly washed it could make one very sick.

Additionally, if you’re planning on eating the insides of the citrus fruit, you should also wash the skin because when you cut into it with the knife, the knife can carry the bacteria from the skin and bring it into the flesh if the fruit while you’re cutting.

However, this doesn’t apply to only fruits. Foods like bananas, plantains, onions,etc should be washed thoroughly before eating.

It’s true that we can’t make ourselves 100% disease free but we can do the little we can to protect ourselves from diseases.
