A video of a young lady calling out Igbo people to stop using English has been going viral. She said that Igbo Men in particular should be banned from using English to toast ladies.
The young lady in the Video, Ebere Anyanwu is a student of English Language in the Popular Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri Imo State has decried the way Igbotic Men use English to toast ladies. She said “Why do men Elongate their sentences when talking to girls, for example; when introducing themselves, I go by the name Nnamdi or I am Nnamdi by name instead of My name is Nnamdi”. She Stressed that either you use Simple English or use our Mother tongue, Igbo Language.
She blasted them for changing intonation when talking to the ladies, She said “We don’t go by your name, we either go by air or by water”. She advised that the Men should be very simple when toasting.
