UCLDA RELEASES WINNERS OF ITS 2019 UGWUMBA ENTERPRISE AWARDS

The management of the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa today announced winners of its maiden edition of the Ugwumba Enterprise Awards.
Speaking to newsmen in their Abuja office, Remy Chukwunyere, the Executive Director of the Center said…
“I am pleased to announce the much talked about Ugwumba Enterprise Awards for Year 2019!
First of all, I would like you to recall that in 2019, the Center launched the #UgwumbaEnterpriseChallenge, which is an idea pitching and grant competition for young people in Nigeria who have ideas that can be transformed into business ventures and social enterprises.
The maiden edition of this competition was tested on the 29th of May, 2019 in the city of Owerri, Imo state with over 500 participants. The Owerri edition came with a lot of learning and the positive feedback from the participants which prompted us to scale it up to the national level and on the 31st of August, 2019, the Abuja Edition was held at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
The national challenge (aka Abuja Edition) became so successful and popular with the participation of prominent members of the National Assembly, government agencies and private foundations, including CBN, SMEDAN, Abuja Enterprise Agency, Federal Ministry of Trade and Investments, Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel, PIND Foundation, Ahmed Bello Memorial Foundation, Afrigrants Resources, African Youth Development Foundation, etc.
The impacts of the national edition was so massive that a number of other international organizations copied and adopted our model, which featured an Online Boot Camp and Live Pitching Competitions.
The year, 2019 was a great one for us as over 1,000 innovations were birthed by #UgwumbaFellows across the country. We therefore instituted the #UgwumbaEnterpriseAwards this year, as a strategy of commending our Fellows and to spur them to do more for themselves and for the economy of our great country, Nigeria.
We are glad to announce that since 2019, thousands of youths in Nigeria have continued to benefit from this job creation program initiated by our Founder and President, Hon. Uche Nwosu.
May we, once again inform that these award winners were selected after assessing the continued efforts of all Ugwumba Fellows towards transforming their ideas into successful business ventures with the seed grants and technical supports received from us in 2019.
Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, the winners and their titles are…
1) Ugochukwu Mbaka, the Ugwumba Entrepreneur of the Year 2019,

2) Ms Jumobi Abeebat Liasu-Thomas, Ugwumba Female Entrepreneur of the Year 2019.

3) Osuji Postmus, the Ugwumba Fellow of the Year 2019,

4) Emmanuel Bala Musa, the Ugwumba Leader of the Year 2019, and

5) Ms Ezinne Nwakuba, the Ugwumba Fellow of the Year 2019 (Female)

The benefits of emerging winners in the various categories are quite enormous. First of all, they shall be admitted into our roll call of distinguished #RebrandNigeriaAmbassadors and shall be decorated during the National Rebrand Nigeria Ambassadors Awards, coming up in Abuja, sometime in December this year.
As winners, their company profiles shall be displayed on our website at www.ugwumbaleaders.org to enable our partners select and make investment decisions about any one of them.
In due course, we shall announce other benefits as may be approved by the Board and our Management.
Congratulations to you, all!”
