In an important meeting with the management of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (SMEDAN) this morning in Abuja, the Director of Policy, Partnership and Coordination department, Mr. Friday Okpala declared that the agency will partner fully with the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa, since our program, the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge is going to assist them fulfill their own mandate.
According to him, “there is an urgent need to change the entitlement mentality among Nigerian youths and because that is the major objective of your enterprise challenge, we have no other option than to work with you to achieve it in this country.”
Earlier in his presentation, Remy Chukwunyere, the Executive Director of the Ugwumba Leadership Center informed the SMEDAN team that the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge is a job creation program that has training, idea pitching and grant competition components aimed at reducing the unemployment crisis ravaging the youth population in Nigeria and Africa at large.
In conclusion, both parties agreed to formalize the partnership, to enable SMEDAN provide technical support to the winners and all participants in the various editions of the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge.
