InnoPower Africa and Luma Learn today announced a strategic partnership to expand access to AI tools and education across Africa — a collaboration rooted in shared origin, shared vision, and an urgent conviction: that the AI revolution will either lift Africa up or leave it further behind. The outcome depends entirely on what is built right now.

History offers a clear warning. Communities that arrive late to transformative technologies do not just miss opportunities, they lose ground that can take generations to recover. On the continent, the stakes are equally high: Africa’s AI market is projected to reach $16–18 billion by 2030, yet nearly 40 percent of Africans still lack reliable broadband access. The window to act is open. It will not stay that way.

This partnership brings together two Nigerians in diaspora who refuse to watch that window close.

Chris Folayan, Co-Founder and Board Chairman of Luma Learn AI, is a Nigerian-born serial entrepreneur with four successful company exits, including MallforAfrica—one of Africa’s largest e-commerce platforms, which he built from his garage into a multimillion-dollar global business. As a Silicon Valley-trained technologist who has spoken at the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the London Stock Exchange, Chris brings African market expertise, global scale experience, and a builder’s instinct to Luma Learn AI. His goal there is to reach 1,000,000 children with free, personalized AI tutoring, having already supported more than 160,000 students and delivered over 4.8 million sessions across 11 languages via WhatsApp.

Emil Ekiyor, born in Lagos and raised between Nigeria and the United States, is a former National Football League (NFL) player (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders) turned social entrepreneur and Founder and CEO of InnoPower Africa. Through InnoPower.AI, Emil leads a train-the-trainer model that certifies Master Trainers — professionals from government agencies, NGOs, and financial institutions — who, in turn, equip MSMEs with practical AI tools to grow their businesses.

InnoPower Africa currently partners with the ECOWAS Small Business Coalition to train 250 Master Trainers reaching 12,500 small businesses, and with the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) to train 100 Master Trainers reaching 5,000 entrepreneurs in Lagos.

Through this partnership, InnoPower Africa will leverage its U.S.-based network to pursue funding and sponsorships that would subsidize expanded Luma access across West Africa, deploy its network of Nigerian and West African professionals to drive platform adoption, and integrate Luma Learn as a live tool in educator AI literacy training sessions.

Together, both organizations are pursuing an initial goal of raising $250,000 to bring Luma’s platform to millions of students, teachers, and families across the ECOWAS subregion.
