Bauchi State Governor Abdullahi Mohammed Abubakar on Monday swore-in Arch. Aufu Suke Katagum as the new deputy governor of the state, charging him to ensure ‘justice’ as his watchword.
He told Katagum that he must not derail because government will not hesitate to deal decisively with him as his actions would be checked.
He said, “The position of a deputy governor is indispensable in government structure in respect to complimenting the effort of the governor towards implementation of policies and programmes of every administration.”
Charging the new deputy on accountability, Abubakar said, “Don’t attempt to derail as government will not hesitate to deal decisively with you as your actions would be checked.”
The governor noting that Katagum’s choice came after exhaustive consultation with stakeholders, added that the appointment was timely and in conformity with the All Progressives Congress (APC) change mantra.
Thee new deputy Governor said in his remarks that he was grateful for the opportunity accorded him and dedicated the appointment to Governor Abubakar.
Recall that the former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Nuhu Gidado had in May tendered his resignation letter, where he told Governor Abubakar, “Ordinarily, I should have remained up to the end of the tenure, but, with the current dampened spirit and waning zeal as it relates to my official engagements, my continued stay will not be fair and truthful to you as my brother and leader”.
