The Duduke crooner said that she does not want such words to be used for her anymore.“I don’t know what to do about people that call me “dear” or “ma”. Let it end pls.”,
Simi wrote; “I don’t know what to do about people that call me “dear” or “ma”. Let it end pls‘ — Simi (@SympLySimi) May 14, 2020
However, a man identified as Taiwo Tolulope Oladirantook to the comment section of Simi’s tweet to explain that some people show respect to her by the use of ‘ma’. According to him, people can take Simi’s humility for arrogance if she does not clearly define what she means.
“Respect they say is reciprocal. People respect you with the ‘ma’, and they expect your respect in return. Is this an indirect way of exhibiting no respect by turning down supposed societal respect? People can misconcept your humility for arrogance if not empirically clarified“— Taiwo Tolulope Oladiran (@TaiwoTolulope77
