Olympic Committee fixes Tokyo 2020 to hold between July 23 and Aug 8, 2021
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided on the new date for the next edition of the Olympic Games having postponed it due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020 Olympics, billed to take place in Tokyo this summer, was shifted to hold in the summer of 2021 after the IOC agreed with the Japanese government last week.
The Olympics will still be called Tokyo 2020 despite taking place in 2021.
In a statement on Monday, the Committee said it had decided to host the games between July 23 and August 8, 2021.
The Committee also confirmed the new dates for the Paralympic Games, which will now take place from August 24 to September 5.
