Nigeria Super Falcons sets a record in the AWCON after defeating Banyana Banyana

Banyana Banyana’s dream of winning their first continental title faded into thin air as Thomas Dennerby’s side again won via a penalty shootout

Tochukwu Oluehi was the heroine as Nigeria claimed the African Women Cup of Nations for a record ninth time after defeating South Africa 4-3 on penalties following a tightly contested 120-minute draw in Accra, Ghana.

The Super Falcons goalkeeper was impressive throughout the encounter, before saving the decisive penalty to help her team beat Banyana Banyana.

Onome Ebi had missed Nigeria’s first penalty of the shootout before Oluehi provided a stunning save to deny Linda Motlhalo, thus, securing victory for Nigeria.
