JOSE OUT: United Directors meets with Zidane

Manchester United were thumped 3-1 by West Ham on Saturday, ramping up pressure on Jose Mourinho, who hasn’t been out of the news this week due to issues with Paul Pogba. It has been reported that the club has held initial talks with Zinedine Zidane following the defeat with a view to replacing the Portuguese.

The Portuguese made some unusual changes for the West Ham game, removing Alexis Sanchez from the squad and playing three men at the back – one of whom was midfielder Scott McTominay. Rio Ferdinand spoke out on his former team on BT Sport following the fixture, and suggested the board will meet up this week to discuss Mourinho’s position.

According to beINSports, the Red Devils have in fact gone one further than this already, and are in talks with a possible replacement. “Sources close to beINSports are suggesting Manchester United have had initial conversations with Zinedine Zidane,” said Richard Keys.

Mourinho is currently enduring Manchester United’s worst start to a season in 29 years and pressure is mounting on his position. On Saturday afternoon, United fell to a 3-1 defeat to West Ham and it’s been suggested that Mourinho’s days are now numbered at Old Trafford.

It’s understood that former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, who left his post at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer after delivering three consecutive Champions League titles, would be the preferred successor to Mourinho. And apparently, United have already held preliminary talks with the French legend.
